Shane Warne, the Australian cricket and poker legend has announced on his Twitter profile that he is no longer part of the popular platform 888poker.

Warne used to work in collaboration with the Gibraltar-based company for six years but now, he has decided it was high time for him to move on. The poker star made an announcement via Twitter and said the following: “Sydney today for the test match, then Aussie Millions poker – exciting. FYI I’ve parted ways with 888…”

As a matter of fact, many poker pros left their sponsors but the baffling thing here is that people familiar with the matters claim that one can hardly witness a situation when a sports star is not willing to be a part of a proven brand.

Back in 2008, soon after the end of his sports career, Warne joined 888poker but before that he proved himself to be a skillful cricket player whose name will always be remembered.

A two-year contract was signed and Warne was given the responsibility of being an ambassador for 888poker during various events and tournaments.

For the time being, the 888poker representatives have not come with an announcement, concerning Warne’s departure, which was actually the third one for the last 12 months. J. C. Tran and Sam Holden are no longer working with the platform as well.

Despite the fact that no information to the media has been revealed so far, those who keep an eye on the events in the career of Warne suspected that the reason for his departure stems from his involvement with Sportingbet. No sooner had Warne split up with 888poker, Sportingbet released a new advertisement with Warne’s participation.

Warne’s accomplishments with 888poker are not easily determined. Every victory he achieved and every opponent he defeated cost him lots of efforts. Regardless, he proved that he was good not only at the cricket court but also in playing poker.

During the years when he was part of 888poker, Warne could not manage to add a really impressive amount of money to his bank account. Yet, it does not mean that he was not a great asset for the poker platform. Otherwise 888poker’s executives would have parted ways with him long time ago.

Although it was Warne’s decision to leave 888poker, he did express his willingness to take part in poker tournaments in future but gaming analysts are convinced that he will find it difficult to ink a sponsorship contract with another platform.

Nevertheless, the lack of official information gave room to speculations and rumors, some of which claim that Shane Warne is about to start representing another poker platform anytime soon.
