The Australian Poker Hall of Fame is an annual event that takes place in order to give the poker players the honor they deserve for their dedication and determination they have for promoting the game of poker, taking part in tournaments and last but not least, raising money for charity by doing what they are the best at – playing poker.
The committee, which is usually in charge of selecting the inductees, has obviously found it difficult to select this year’s nominees. That is why the members of the Australian Poker Hall of Fame committee gave a chance to the Australian poker communities to determine who deserves to enter the competition.
Although reaching a decision about the players who should be nominated was a pretty challenging task, that was not the most difficult part.
Only one out of all notable candidates is to be included in the Australian Poker Hall of Fame. Here is a list of the nominees and a brief description of their accomplishments during the years:
Grant Levy is famous for his outstanding poker strategy and his participation in a wide number of prestigious poker tournaments. His best live cash is $875,542 and his total earnings are well over $2 million. Levy also used to be among the players sponsored by PokerStars.
Van Marcus joined Full Tilt in 2010 and he is equally good in cash games and tournaments but his favorite game is Omaha. He made his breakthrough in 2009 when he took part in a WSOP tournament.
David Steicke is another nominee for the Australian Poker Hall of Fame as he devoted many years to improving his strategy, winning the 2009 Aussie Millions
High Rollers and becoming second at 2011 Epic Poker League Ev2.
Tino Lechich is a player who made it to the WSOP and WPT final tables several times. Five years ago he became a runner-up in the Victorian Poker Championships.
Joe Cabret was ranked fifth in the Australian Poker Championship $10000 Main Event, which took place in Crown. In 2013 he became second at 2013 Aussie Millions and his earnings were estimated to be more than $1.4 million.
Michael Guttman is the last player selected as a nominee for the Australian Poker Hall of Fame and many poker fans consider his accomplishments to be impressive enough to ensure his inclusion in the competition. Guttman has won Aussie Millions four times, his performance in WSOP was great as well.
The Australian Poker Hall of Fame committee is to make a decision soon and the results will be announced during the 2015 Aussie Millions.
