Standard European roulette uses a single-zero wheel with thirty-seven pockets: one through thirty-six and zero. Do not assume that the game name tells you every settlement rule. On a fair wheel, a straight-up wager has one winning pocket out of thirty-seven. A standard one-dollar winner pays thirty-five dollars profit and returns the dollar stake, for thirty-six dollars total. With ordinary payouts, the house edge is one divided by thirty-seven, about two point seven zero percent. Standard double-zero roulette has two divided by thirty-eight, about five point two six percent. Neither figure predicts the result of a short session. Inside and outside bets cover different numbers of pockets and pay different amounts. A red or black bet covers eighteen pockets and pays one to one in profit. Under ordinary rules, zero loses that bet. La partage and en prison can change settlement for eligible even-money bets when zero appears. They are optional rules, not benefits guaranteed by the European label. Check which bets qualify and what happens if zero repeats while a stake is held. Live tables may use a dealer announcement and countdown. Random-number games may offer Spin, Rebet or Clear controls. Check the actual interface, chip values and minimums. Do not change wagers after betting closes. Set a limit and take breaks.
