A random-number generator supplies the random choices used by a video-poker game. In a properly implemented standard draw game, card selection follows the deck rules and the published probabilities. An animation is only the presentation of that result. For an ordinary fifty-two-card draw game, the initial hand contains five distinct cards. If the five dealt cards remain out of the replacement deck, forty-seven cards are available for the draw. Discarding a ten of diamonds does not mean a later ten of spades is the same card. Rank and suit identify a card together. Suppose you hold ace, king, queen and jack of spades and discard a non-spade three. One of the forty-seven remaining cards is the ten of spades that completes the royal flush. Under uniform dealing, that one-card chance is one in forty-seven. A run of losing hands does not make the next deal due to win in an independent game. Timing the button or studying recent results does not reveal an unpredictable random sequence. Your Hold decision still matters: it changes which final hands are possible and their expected return. That is different from controlling the random draw. Use the strategy for the actual game and pay table, and check whether a machine is standard draw poker or a different lottery product. Set a spending limit.
