A poker-looking screen does not tell you how a gaming terminal determines its result. Standard draw video poker and a terminal presenting a centrally selected lottery-style outcome can look similar. In a standard random-deck draw game, you receive cards, choose which to hold and draw replacements under the published deck rules. The Hold decision changes the possible final hands and their expected return. A strategy chart is meaningful only for the exact game, rules and pay table. Some finite systems work differently. The central system randomly selects an electronic ticket from a defined game set, then sends it to a terminal that displays its predetermined outcome using numbers or symbols. The Gaming Laboratories International finite-system standard describes that model. That does not mean all products called video lottery terminals use one identical mechanism. Do not classify a game solely by its cabinet, manufacturer, venue or a bonus animation. A manufacturer can supply more than one kind of product. Read the game’s Help and Rules information and ask the operator or regulator which approved system applies. Find out whether card choices affect the award or only its presentation, how outcomes are determined, and what the pay table means. If you cannot establish those rules, do not assume a conventional draw-poker strategy applies. Check the stake and keep a personal spending limit.
