A video-poker pay chart can compress a full pay table into a short sequence. That is useful only when you know the game, the order of the hand categories and which wager the sequence describes. For a one-credit standard nine-six Jacks or Better table, an ascending-hand chart reads one, two, three, four, six, nine, twenty-five, fifty and two hundred and fifty. Those values map to high pair, two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush and royal flush. Do not read the numbers without their labels. A different variant can add categories such as four aces, four deuces or a kicker-dependent award. Reusing the Jacks or Better sequence would misdescribe those games. In the five-credit column of this example, a full house returns forty-five credits and a flush thirty. The royal returns four thousand, rather than five times two hundred and fifty, because this table gives a bonus rate at that wager. A chart’s quoted theoretical return also needs its assumptions: exact full table, royal-flush condition and playing strategy. Two tables sharing the same nine-six shorthand need not have identical returns. Compare every chart entry with the machine’s current pay table before using it. Confirm the denomination and total stake, and keep any wager within your spending limit.
