Russian Authorities to Develop a Complete Strategy for Crimea’s Gambling Zone by the End of 2014

crimea-casino-040814Russian Authorities officially announced, that they will have a complete strategy for the gambling zone in Crimea by the end of 2014. A law was signed by the President Vladimir Putin, who officially made Crimea the most recent gambling territory of the country.

Until now, gambling was strictly prohibited in Crimea.

Mr. Putin signed a law that allowed the establishment of gambling zones located in Crimea and Sochi. Their boundaries were reported to have been waiting to be determined by the local executive authorities.

At first, Russian President renounced the opening of such a zone on the territory of Sochi, but later changed his mind after receiving am appeal from the Sochi City Assembly.

A total of four gambling zones were created in Russia half a decade ago. Now, ITAR-TASS reported that the current governor of Crimea is now working with “experts, who at different times were involved in the organization of gambling zones in various parts of the world.”

Still, it is not yet clear what the strategy for Crimea is. According to the Governor’s statement, some of the plan’s details are still being worked on. In addition, the statement explained that the casinos that are being planned to be built in Crimea may cost between $100 million and $1 billion.

Crimea’s Governor – Mr. Sergei Aksenov – shared that there is a team of experts, who work hard on creating the best solutions for such an enormous gambling project to work out.

The process of establishing the new gambling zone in Crimea is considered to come as a sign that gambling industry in Russia slowly becomes legal again.

The law related to the establishment of gambling zones in Crimea and Kuban was approved on July 4th by the State Duma. Then, five days later, it also got the approval of the Federation Council. The new law guarantees that several casinos and other gambling establishments will start operating on the territory of Crimea and Sochi.

Some of the gambling facilities are planned to be transferred in the new gambling zones from other areas – Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Altai and the Azov-Black Sea coast of the Caucasus.

The implementation of the new strategy for Russia’s most recent gambling zone is expected to begin in early 2015. The casino resorts will be primarily focused on international customers. Governor Aksenov assured that “we shall be able to offer conditions comfortable for them.”

A fresh inflow of gambling followers and players is expected to be brought to Russia’s new gabling zones, as a result from the decision of opening casinos and other gambling facilities. These people were long prohibited to gable everywhere in the country except for the regions, which were mentioned above.
