The Sun and NEKTAN Launch a Mobile Casino Platform

News

Earlier today, popular British tabloid The Sun announced that it is going to work in collaboration with NEKTAN, a Gibraltar-based developer of various gaming solutions, to launch the so-called Sun Play, a mobile casino, which will offer a wide selection of both real-money and free-to-play slots, bingo, and casino games.

Sun Play is to be powered by the so-called Evolve mobile platform, developed by NEKTAN. The developer shared that the decision for this project came due to the fact that the entertainment needs of online players are constantly growing. In addition, more and more of them are keen on playing real-money games instead of virtual currency ones.

NEKTAN shared that the game is set to be launched at some point in 2015.

Neil Martin, currently taking the position of a business development manager at News UK, the parent company of The Sun, promised that the newspaper is going to provide its readers, both print and digital ones, with the best possible gaming experience.

Mr. Martin also pointed out that his company’s primary goal has always been to entertain their customers in different ways.

NEKTAN announced that under the new partnership, the developer will receive a certain share of the revenue that is to be generated by Sun Play. The company stated that this will probably impact significantly its trading throughout 2015. Yet, no information was revealed as to how much NEKTAN will receive.

David Gosen, chief executive officer of NEKTAN, shared with media that they are extremely happy to be given the opportunity to work with The Sun’s team and to be able to provide the numerous readers with the exciting games that Sun Play features. He also pointed out that he considers the partnership with the newspaper a major development for his company.

Not long ago, NEKTAN floated on the Alternative Investment Market, a sub-market of the London Stock Exchange. In addition, it launched a mobile casino platform, which was the result of its collaboration with City A.M., known to be a London-based business-oriented newspaper.

The Sun’s deal with NEKTAN is not the first of its kind for the popular tabloid. Back in 2008, the so-called Sun Bingo was launched and proved to be quite successful. The platform is powered by London-based gaming developer Gamesys.

Back in 2014, the newspaper announced its plans to take on sports betting. It said that it was really close to inking a deal with BetVictor, a British independent betting operator.
