Gala Coral Reports an Increase in Q1 Revenue

Events & Reports

The popular UK-based operator Gala Coral revealed information about its revenue generated in the first quarter of 2015. According to the numbers reported gross profits during the first quarter of the year, which ended on January 17th, reached £267.4 million or in other words, an increase of £12.3 million was noticed.

Compared to the numbers reported exactly one year ago, EBITDA increased by 11% and totaled £67.3 million.

The report for the first quarter of 2015 was released mere hours ago and it also includes information about company’s accomplishments in Italy. According to the numbers revealed, Gala Coral’s business in Italy is relatively more successful in comparison with the data reported this time last year. The Italian online gambling branch of the company has expanded as well as the retail EBITDA.

In point of fact, the numbers would have been even better if it was not for the really poor football results in Italy and the United Kingdom. An official from Gala Coral said that the sports margins in both countries are pretty much disappointing but “volumes remain strong”.

In addition, Gala Coral reported an increase related to the bingo games. The gross profits amounted £63.7 million or to be more precise, the increase was £3.8 million.

Carl Leaver, the Chief Executive of Gala Coral, said that despite the problematic football margins, the numbers reported were, by and large, satisfactory. He said that Gala Coral will continue adopting new approaches towards consolidating its positions on the UK and Italian gambling markets. In other words, it will concentrate predominantly on expanding its online business.

The report also puts emphasis on the fact that Gala Coral executives are taking imminent actions towards promoting the responsible gambling. Back in January, they were engaged in forming the Senet Group. What is more, special software, urging players to set their own limits while participating in gambling activities was installed in the gaming machines.

Mr. Leaver reassured the communities that Gala Coral is working together with the government and the regulatory bodies and the upcoming changes will not affect players.

The company has made another wise move recently. Coral Interactive and Gala Interactive have been combined into a single structure, which made the majority of market analysts believe that the company will save up to £1 million during the financial year.
