The one-day $200 buy-in No Limit Hold’em, which is the first one in the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge, held at the Seneca Niagara Casino, has just been completed. It attracted a total of 139 players and it took almost 13 hours for a winner to be determined. His name is Jerry Calvaneso and he was awarded the sum of $6,285 and a trophy.

It could be said that Calvaneso is relatively new to the world of poker as, reportedly, this is his second cash. Previously, he was paid $2,649 for finishing fifteenth at last year’s Western New York Poker Challenge Main Event.

A total of ten players sat at the final table and the play started with Calvaneso being the chip leader. The player had 390,000 in chips and was followed by Michael Milewski with 330,000 and Adam Smith with 270,000.

Mike Klatt was the first to leave the final table, as he was defeated by Calvaneso only a few minutes after the beginning of Level 20. The player received $460 for his tenth position.

Several minutes later, Jeffery Hobrecker fell victim to Carrie Marciniak. Hobrecker was then followed by Scott Aitchison, who was defeated by Milewski. The players took $561 and $696 for their ninth and eighth places, respectively.

Cameron Bartolotta and Alex Visbisky were the next to go. They both were eliminated by Milewski in seventh and sixth places.

Then, Calvaneso defeated Rob Davis and Adam Smith. The players were paid $1,526 and $2,099 for their fifth and fourth positions.

Thus, Calvaneso, Milewski, and Marciniak were the only players left at the final table. Yet, towards the end of Level 22, Marciniak was defeated by Milewski. She received $2,806 for finishing third in the event.

The heads-up play began with Milewski being the chip leader. The player had 1,100,000 in chips and was closely followed by his opponent, who had 950,000.

Milewski won several hands and thus, increased his lead over Calvaneso, until the latter won a massive hand and doubled up his chips.

The last hand in the heads-up play occurred in Level 24. Calvaneso had [Js][10d] and Milewski was holding [Qd][6c]. With the board showing [Qs][3c][9s][10s], Calvaneso was way behind Milewski. When [8d] fell on the river, Calvaneso made a Queen-high straight and that won him the trophy and the sum of $6,285.

As for Milewski, he was paid $3,884 for his runner-up finish.
