Delaware and Nevada Commence Online Poker Liquidity Sharing

News

It was reported that the states of Delaware and Nevada, which had previously signed an agreement to share poker pools from online players as an attempt to increase their revenues, have eventually introduced a soft launch phase of the joint venture.

Online poker in Delaware is currently powered by popular provider 888poker and a total of three land-based casinos on the territory of the state are featuring online poker services.

As for Nevada, 888poker is known to be working in collaboration with WSOP for quite some time. In fact, the two brands have just announced an expansion of their partnership. In addition to this, the Gibraltar-licensed poker provider is also planning to introduce to the Nevada market a poker network of its own. 888poker stated that it will work with several local land-based gambling venues.

The poker company commented in its financial report, which was released on Tuesday, that a shared poker network will be launched in both Nevada and Delaware.

The partnership deal was approved by the Governors of both states back in February 2014.

Reportedly, the traffic of the Delaware Free Poker Network increased immediately after the launch of the liquidity sharing program. A total of 313 cash players accessed the platform during the first day. By comparison, an average of 7 players were recorded to have taken advantage of the poker services the network offers over the course of the past seven days.

In January 2015, the sum of $27,695 was generated out of online poker operations on the territory of Delaware. The launch of the liquidity sharing program will probably result in a considerable increase in revenue.

About a month ago, the Governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval, shared with local media that the liquidity sharing would have kicked off sooner, if it had not been for certain “technical glitches”.

The Delaware-Nevada partnership entered its soft launch period only a day before the legislators’ hearing concerning the prohibition of online poker on the territory of the United States, which is scheduled for today, March 25. According to gaming experts, however, the Restoration of America’s Wire Act is not particularly likely to be passed any time soon.

The other online poker room offered in Nevada by the South Point Casino in Las Vegas is not part of the liquidity sharing partnership. This is due to the fact that under the agreement between the two states, the poker sites should be powered by 888poker.
