Katchalov has announced his participation in the show via his profile in Twitter, which put an end to the rumours and suggestions why he missed such an important event like the World Series of Poker.

Some more or less reliable sources put forward the idea of working on a project, different from the poker industry. His last public appearance was in “The Bachelor” and in a popular magazine.

Liv Boeree was the first poker star who took part in a television project and now it’s Katchalov’s turn.

As far as his poker ventures are concerned, Eugene Katchalov is said to be the Ukrainian player, who has earned the largest amount of money from professional poker. He is widely recognised as a PokerStars Team Pro and a WSOP champion. His participation in “The Protege” was an exciting event for all the PokerStars players but Olga Ermolcheva was the lucky winner who got the reward – namely tickets to WCOOP events, individual training with Katchalov and last but not least, an opportunity to win a journey that would take her to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Although Katchalov was born in Ukraine, he has been living in New York for more than two decades. For the time being, he is ranked at 63rd place on the Global poker index.

He finished his education in the New York University and got a business degree. During that time he didn’t supposed that pretty soon he will be recognised as the person who had taken part in the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic and won the outstanding sum of almost $2,5 million.

However, the best was yet to come. 2007 was the year when he cashed nine times on WPT and earned an impressive amount of money. Two years later, he took 39th place at WSOP Main Event.

Eugene Katchalov started playing poker professionally eleven years ago. He has been a PokerStars Pro since 2011 and he won the World Series of Poker tournaments 30 times. Obviously 2011 was one of the best years in his career because he won the Super High Roller tournament and defeated another poker star – Daniel Negreanu.

It is worthy of mentioning that Eugenie Katchalov is a promising player not only in the United States but also in Europe. He won several tournaments that took place respectively in London and Barcelona.

As reported, his earnings from the different tournaments he has won up to now, are more than $8 million.
