Betjack Under Investigation for Unpaid Wagers in Australia and New Zealand

News

betjackThere is an ongoing investigation in Australia concerning the global bookmaking company Betjack. The investigation is looking into allegations of unpaid racing bets.

The investigation was started due to the claims raised by the Racing Victoria Limited, which is currently the main authority responsible for the proper business ethics in the horseracing business in the Australian State of Victoria.

It is in charge of stimulating, expanding, advertising and supervising the “Thoroughbred horseracing” in the State. That responsibility was transferred to it back in 2001 from its predecessor Victoria Racing Club.

The Chief Executive of RVL harshly accused Betjack operator naming it a ’parasite’ which tries to leach money from the racing industry without paying any dividends back. Mr Saundry has officially asked the Australian Federal Government to intervene, and find a solution for all the international online betting platforms which offer bets but have not asked for RVL’s approval.

He further explained that the website is working against the law in Australia, and is using ill-informed punters to gain advantage and often times those punters risk to lose their money. He put a strong accent on his position against international betting operators.

Another accusation against Betjack is that it has not paid winning wagers to some of the bettors. The Sydney Morning Herald further reported that this is happening, despite the fact that Betjack has opened a local account at the Westpac Bank and bettors are mainly paying their bets through the Australian bank.

There are a number of complaints filed by clients, such as a $150,000 of earnings in a golf club in Melbourne and $200,000 earnings by a single punter who was refused payment by Betjack and got his original bet returned. He was also advised to not use the services of the website again.

Another setback for Betjack is the numerous complaints of slow payments.

Betjack is said to have established business connections with the company – Parkview Corporate Services, located at Gold Coast. It is said that Parkview Corporate has started looking for more employees since last month. The employees were required to have experience in telemarketing and in racing or stock markets.

The Federal Government is yet to provide its final investigation results, on whether there is anything illegal in the partnership between the two companies.

The Sydney Morning Herald’s own investigation also found out that a major money transaction company named POLi Payments is also under contract with Betjack. The company’s CEO explained that “they don’t do significant business with us but nonetheless they do have an Australian bank account.”

The company did not share any other details about their connection with Betjack due to the current situation with the operator. POLi Payments is the provider of the online payment system POLi, which is one of the most well-known software used by businesses and citizens in Australia and New Zealand.
