Zynga, the thriving online games developer, has expressed their intentions to take up a project and enter the business of the real games. For that reason, two years ago, the company hired Maytal Olsha who used to be a former vice president of 888 Holdings, which made her an excellent addition to the company. Don Mattrick and Mark Pincust were the other two who formed the great trio, supposed to make Zynga successful in the field of the real games industry.
Meanwhile Olsha did a lot for the company. Initially, she was hired as a chief operating officer and one of her main responsibilities were to find and take care of the new markets.
Later on, her duties changed as Don Mattrick (formerly an Xbox chief) stated that Zynga’s intentions for conquering the real-money markets are realistic and still present. Olsha’s considerable experience in the field gained her the reputation of a promising person who knows what to do in order to achieve Mattrick’s goal. The authorities started preparing for the real money gambling industry but they haven’t supposed that there could be a setback they can do nothing about. The real money gambling legalisation in the United States took time more than expected so Zynga’s board of directors concentrated on the online gaming projects.
However, Olsha left the company last month with the aim of working independently and developing her own social casino. Zynga didn’t come out with an official announcement but the authorities did confirm that she is no more a part of their team.
Olsha’s plans are to be ready with the best part of her project within a year. She says that the amount of money that has to be invested should not be a bother as she has saved up enough capital for a venture of this kind. She also said that it’s high time to start doing “her own thing” after all the efforts she has made in order to develop the gaming giant Zynga.
Those who pay a closer attention to the events in Zynga know that there have been significant changes, concerning the executive staff in the company. Olsha’s leaving is commonly described as the culmination of the clean-up. Yet, there are two more people who have been working in Zynga for a longer period of time. Mark Pincus who became a chairman and Barry Cottle who is responsible for the poker and casino franchises in the company.
A few days ago, it was announced that the name of the new vice president and also general manager of the company is Pete Hawley who used to work for Red Robot Labs. Regina Duncan has been appointed as a new member of Zynga’s board of directors.
