ben-affleck-playingBen Affleck, the well-known Hollywood actor, director and writer, has spoken out about being busted counting cards while he played blackjack at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas earlier this year. Generally speaking, card counting is a strategy that helps players determine whether the next hand is more likely to be in their advantage or in that of the dealer. It is not illegal but usually casinos are not extremely happy about players resorting to it.

In his recent interview for the Details magazine, Affleck acknowledged that he used the technique, and suggested that people should not make a big fuss over this whole incident.

He shared with Jeff Gordinier from the Detail Magazine that this really happened in Las Vegas in the end of April. The Argo star also claimed that learning the game took him some considerable time and once he became an advanced player, casinos began to ask him not to play it. The actor’s affinity for card games is not a secret. He is also a prominent poker player and Amir Vahedi himself was his mentor.

Upon being noticed counting cards, Affleck was asked to quit the blackjack table. He was also supposedly banned from the premises of the Hard Rock. The Casino, however, released a statement to deny the latter, claiming that the star was free to go any time he found fit.

The Academy Award winner made light of this incident, admitting that the Casino only asked him not to play blackjack when there. He also said that in a similar fashion many other casinos were not happy about him playing this particular game, but they constantly tended to offer him other entertainments such as roulette. They were well-aware that he was not interested in those games, but what was important for them was to have a big star in their premises.

Trump uses Twitter to make fun of Atlantic City’s pending collapse

After leaving the casino scene of Atlantic City not many years ago, now Trump actively uses the social media to express his frustration with the slow decay of the resort, once known to be a proud seaside Mecca for gamblers. The mogul’s reaction was caused by the closure of Trump Plaza which became the fourth casino to be shut down this year.

Trump shared on his Twitter that he has not been investing in AC not because he did not have the money to, but for he had lost interest in doing so. Later on he expressed his disappointment with the city losing its charm after he gave up on Trump Plaza and Trump Taj Mahal several years ago.

Speaking of Trump Taj Mahal, it is yet another casino to declare insolvency and it would not be a surprise if it follows the demise of Trump Plaza, Revel, the Atlantic Club Casino and Showboat and gets shut down by the end of the year.

In spite of his ranting about Atlantic City, recently, the magnate hinted at the possibility to resume investing there again. He posted on his Twitter account that he might buy Plaza and Taj Mahal at a lower price and make them the successful casinos they once were.
