greg-mersonWSOP.com has a new ambassador and his name is Greg Merson. This was announced on the eve of the first anniversary of one of the best online poker rooms in Nevada. This Friday, September 19, is a memorable date for WSOP.com, as it marks precisely one year since the site has opened for business. The team decided to celebrate this special occasion in a more unusual way, by signing an ambassador who will promote and represent the brand.

It is not a coincidence that WSOP.com chose precisely Greg Merson for this notable position, considering that he is the champion of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) from 2012. Merson is the official winner of the Main Event from this tournament and during that same year he also managed to win the WSOP bracelet at the $10,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship. This enormous success led to the pronouncing of Greg Merson for WSOP Player of the Year for 2012.

It is confirmed that Merson has already signed the contract which makes him the official ambassador of WSOP.com. He will promote the site in Nevada and New Jersey by wearing a special outfit with the brand. The last patch which Merson wore was the one of IveyPoker. The player was a member of the team when the site was launched for the first time but that changed later. People have been talking about collaboration between Greg Merson and WSOP.com for years, mostly because of the substantial amount of time which Merson spends playing on this particular site.

The last year has been very successful for WSOP.com as a result of the consistency of the team. Even though this site was launched second, after the opening of Ultimate Poker, it managed to occupy the leading position for the impressive period of only six weeks. Even Real Gaming couldn’t stop the fast-growing popularity of WSOP.com and today this site is without a doubt one of the most visited online poker rooms.

For only one year the site managed to organize 14,564 tournaments, mark 100,000 accounts and deal more than 15 million game hands. According to Bill Rini, the Head of the Online Poker for WSOP.com, this had been a very exciting year with a lot of lessons. He also said that the team had established a stable foundation in this particular kind of entertainment in the country which will be useful for the future successful development of the website.

More changes are expected to happen despite the adding of Greg Merson to the team of WSOP.com. One of them will be affecting the technologies and will give to the different players the possibility to confirm their location through wi-fi instead with a mobile device. Also the major cage at Rio will be working with the deposits and withdrawals in-person. Along with that there will be an expansion of the options which are connected to the processing of the payments. Pretty soon it might be also possible to use WSOP.com on tablet or a mobile.
