Although the United States’ online lottery activities are not as well developed as they should be, it seems like the things are going to change soon and the annual revenue may reach more than $17 million.
It is expected that the new players will have the greatest contribution to the increased turnover. Lottovate, a recently found lottery platform, supported by Tipp24, has taken the issue of digitalising the lottery activities wholeheartedly and put a lot of efforts towards actualizing the regulations for buying lottery tickets via Internet.
For the time being, there are just three states that have allowed their residents make such kind of purchases. One of them is Minnesota, the state where players can buy not only electronic lottery tickets but also tickets that bring instant rewards. However, the latter have been a subject to different disputes.
In order to convince the local lottery authorities that if they digitalise the lottery tickets their income will be immensely boosted, Lottovate took up the responsibility of approving of that statement by asking the popular UK company YouGov to conduct a survey and report the percentage of people who would like to make online lottery purchases if they had the chance to.
The results were the following: More than a quarter of the US citizens who took part in the survey admitted that they consider the lottery activities available on their laptops or smartphones convenient and therefore they would gladly use them. 8% of the adults who are not really keen on lottery, said that they would participate in a lottery game, provided that there is an online version of it. 40% of those who are fans of the lottery games also stated that they would be interested in purchasing a lottery ticket from the comfort of their home.
Needless to say, most of the interviewees were interested in the digitalization of the lottery games that have the biggest jackpots.
Zuriñe Sáez de Viteri, the Lottovate’s managing director, said that the general opinion of the public is that the online lottery services will not remain a disappointing investment. He also added that the results from the survey have approved “a clear consumer demand for interactive play and a huge revenue opportunity.”
The utmost aim of de Viteri and his company is convincing more state authorities accept the lottery tickets digitalisation, which will undoubtedly result in lucrative profits for Lottovate.
However, none of the predictions for a fantastic revenue should be taken for granted. According to reputable market analysts the gambling market in the United States can be worth $8 billion in the next couple of years. However, the states that have allowed the online lottery purchases are currently facing various issues, which made the analysts reconsider their forecast and come up with another suggestion. The new prediction is that the market will be worth $5billion in the next six years.
Contrary to the optimistic predictions above, the Deutsche Bank experts are not quite sure that the USA gambling market revenue will be more than $2 billion by 2020.
