Japanese Legislation Bill Expected to Pass This Month

News

Japanese flagAccording to an important figure in the Japanese gambling matters, actions, taken towards the legislation of the gambling activities should be expected this month. As a matter of fact, the Government became familiar with the issue several weeks ago and now, the members are going to discuss it at the next available fall sitting.

The bill, that will be a subject to discussions, will refine the Japanese laws and eventually allow establishment of casinos on the territory of the country. If everything goes in accordance to the initial plan, a second bill will be proposed, probably at the beginning of the next year, and it will focus on the rules, regulations and the license the casino owners will be obliged to comply with.

Koichi Hagiuda, a member of the Liberal Democrat Party, told the media that the intention was passing the bill to the lower house and then passing it to the upper house for further discussions. The politician, who is also known as the most reliable assistant of the Prime Minister, added that the authorities were really enthusiastic about the upcoming events and the preparations were serious.

However, there is a possibility the legalisation of the gambling activities in Japan to be brought to a standstill because of the upper house standpoint, concerning the casino matters. While the lower house members are likely to discuss and respectively accept the bill, the House of Councilors is not particularly keen on the idea. One of the most important members publicly announced that even if the bill is accepted during the fall session, a great part of the authorities wouldn’t be particularly pleased with the urgent actions that might follow the casinos legalization.

Hagiuda also revealed some further details about the intention of following the Singapore’s example and imposing an entry tax on the players who visit casinos. Hagiuda assured that the tax won’t be valid to all the players. Only Japanese residents will be charged the entry fee of $45.

Disagreements and disapproving comments are expected because the local people will, by all means, feel like a victim of the new rules while the tourists, coming from different counties would be free to enter the casinos without paying anything. However, if they look at the bright side, the tax is smaller than the one the Singaporean players pay.

It doesn’t seem like Tokyo will be the first city to build a casino and help for accumulating a greater annual revenue. It is a well known fact that Yoichi Masuzoe is not among the most passionate followers of the idea. He has concentrated all his efforts on constructing the venue where the next Olympic Games will take place.

However, the attitude in Osaka is pretty different, which made many gaming providers try to find a niche where they can sell their services. Despite the optimistic situation, many consider the welcoming attitude to be false.
