2-5357c46970a0f8ce0e8b4728It looks like Malta is going to compete with Las Vegas and Prague for the title “gambling mecca” in March next year. It has been recently announced that PokerStars and Global Poker Index have joined forces and organised a marvelous event. Malta will play host to the European Poker Tour – an event that will take place for the first time on Maltese soil.

Passionate poker players know that December is the month when Prague turns out to be an appealing venue for players from all over the world; Las Vegas is well known for various exciting tournaments take place in Nevada every summer and now, the beginning of spring will be marked by another important and thrilling poker event, located in Malta.

The European Poker Tour has been held for 11 years but Malta was never among the countries, included in the list of stops. Now, the Maltese residents are provided with the opportunity to take part in stunning events, organised by two gambling giants.

St Julians is supposed to be the location where the tour will stop. It will be held in the period 18-25 March and the number of events will be between 40 and 45 including a wide range of cash games, side events, the EPT Main Event and the Main event of the Italian Poker Tour, which will be incorporated in EPT.

The Tour has started in 2004 and Malta will be the 22nd stop since then.

The president of the European Poker Tour, Edgar Stuchly, said that he considers Malta to be a wonderful place for EPT and the expectations are for many players, willing to take part in the event.

As far as the venue is concerned, the organizers have chosen the prominent Portomaso Casino. The casino manager shared that he is excited to announce such a delightful news like the collaboration between Portomaso Casino and PokerStars. “The EPT is a landmark event for us and we are looking forward to hosting such a prestigious tournament.” – added Eros Ganzina.

GPI Organizes Three More Events

It seems like the GPI authorities are not wasting their time. They hurried up to set three more events while the EPT is in Malta.

25th of March is the day when the GPI European Poker Awards will be given. The Global Poker Conference and Global Poker Masters come next but there is no definite date set for these two.

Alex Dreyfus, a CEO of GPI agreed that Malta is a great location for EPT and brings GPI one more benefit. Global Poker Index is a Maltese company and for the time being, the top priority of the authorities is popularizing the poker game all over the world. The successful promotion of the poker will enable GPI to play host to various prestigious events and tournaments.
