The event organizers of the GiGse 2015 have gathered together in Las Vegas on the 28th and 29th of September to talk about what topics, issues and themes the industry is interested in.
The Advisory Board is considering to let those who will participate in the event to decide and vote on the topics that will be discussed. The event, which will be held on the 21st to 23rd of April 2015, will be created following the so called Open Space technology, letting participants choose what to talk about, and not to simply follow the agenda of the event.
More About the Open Space Technology
The Open Space technology is a flexible way of organizing meetings with a focus on open discussions and free, casual communication between the participants. Participants are free to join any of the conversations or leave any time they choose, so that everyone finds the issue they are most interested in. This format is used in the United States since the 1980’s, and is known for creating passionate debates in sets of even hundreds of participants.
During the Advisory Board meeting, there were more than forty topics offered and discussed, and the conclusions will be gathered in a Book of Proceedings which will be given to businesses from the gambling industry. It will suit as the basis plan for next year’s event.
Some of the participants of the Advisory Board meeting shared their positive thoughts on the new way of organization. A representative from Tropicana shared that “the ‘self-organizing’ structure of the meetings” turned out to be critical to the business, because there were some topics he was quite interested in. The representative further explained that when all participants were deeply interested in a certain discussion, the level of engagement and therefore the productivity of the conversation was much better than in an officially organized set up.
Another member of the board, representing Arizona Indian Gaming Association, shared that the open space technology is what had been missing from the former meetings. The atmosphere of the meeting had made those who had knowledge on certain topics to be more likely to share insights and ideas which were less likely to come out in a, for example, Q and A set up.
