As far as the gambling industry in Europe is concerned, a number of countries are currently making attempts to implement the changes necessary for establishing a stable gambling sector that is beneficial to gambling providers and players alike. Croatia is another European country whose regulators have finally realized that making changes in the outdated rules might be favorable to country’s well- being.

It has been announced recently that the changes, proposed by Croatian authorities, were approved by the European Commission and the next step is discussing the online gambling amenities and making them officially valid.

According to the information released, the new laws will include obtaining a special license that allows gambling providers operate on the territory of Croatia. The license will be issued by the Ministry of Finance but the fees, those who want to be available on the local gambling market are supposed to pay, are pretty high.

In addition, every gambling provider, approved for a license, will be required to make a bank deposit, equal to HRK 3 million. This rule will be imposed with the aim of ensuring the financial stability of the operators.

Although the requirements, mentioned above, might sound excessive to some people, there is one more fee that has to be paid. Every gambling provider will be supposed to withhold a particular sum from players’ winnings in order to cover the high taxes.

Croatia-based players will have to pay high taxes as well. There will be a special system that will estimate how much every player is supposed to pay. Those who win up to HRK 10, 000, have to pay a 10% tax. The percentage is growing, depending on the sum of money, earned during a particular period of time.

According to the initial plan, the new rules will be implemented in 2015 or as soon as the national parliament approves the proposal and all the small details are talked over.

The approval of the European Commission made players, keen on taking part in different gambling activities online, really excited because soon they might have the chance to participate in gambling activities. Once the new rules are implemented, players will be legally allowed to create accounts in .com websites.

Until now, Croatian gambling regulators, along with those in Italy and France, allowed players to register in special websites only and the access to famous online poker platforms was restricted. It seems like poker players are most excited as the new amendments will enable them to participate in prestigious poker tournaments and prove their skills in a battle with tough opponents from all over the world.
