It has been more than a year since iGaming became available in the state of Delaware. Bearing the problematic gambling sector in the US in mind, the revenues generated by the racinos were not too surprising.
However, instead of undergoing an improvement, the situation with the turnover got worse. Prominent gambling analysts hoped profitable agreements to be signed and the sales and casinos’ popularity to be boosted but their expectations were not met.
Revenue, generated in Delaware during the last month, has not been so low since the very beginning, when the market was opened.
Currently, there are three racinos on the territory of Delaware – Harrington, Dover Down and Delaware Park. The total revenue they generated for the month of October was a bit more than $130,000. By comparison, revenue generated during the first month of the launch was $111,000. In other words, the revenue iGaming managed to raise was $19,000 more than it was a year ago.
October was the second month when the numbers reported were not too optimistic. April 2014 was the month when the best revenue was reported but then, it deteriorated and the difference between the turnover in April and the one in October was $110,000.
The revenue, the state of Delaware has earned up to now, was less than $2 million.
The sum earned from table games was $46,000 and the amount of $28,500 was generated through poker games. Luckily, the revenue from the video lottery activities compensated for the losses as they generated almost $56,000.
Dover Downs
The revenue for the entire month was equal to a bit more than $30,000. The racino generated $9,000 through table games and approximately $8,000 from poker games. Here, the video lottery games compensated to a certain extent for the weak overall revenue.
Delaware Park
Although the revenue, generated at Delaware Park was the greatest one, it is still significantly smaller than what have been generated in November 2013. The revenue from table games was $35,000, poker generated $16,500, video lottery brought the highest revenue of $23,000.
Harrington
Despite the fact that Harrington has been experiencing some financial issues lately revenue generated by the racino was pretty decent. The total one was $25,000 and almost a quarter of the sum was generated from video lottery games. However, the situation with the poker and table games was absolutely disappointing as revenue they generated was respectively $3,700 and $1,600.
As far as the new accounts are concerned, the situation is not very optimistic as well. During the previous month only 315 new accounts have been opened in the three racinos.
