Jaffe_WinnerThe 2014 partypoker.net World Poker Tour Montreal ended on Wednesday. The event was held at the Playground Poker Club in Canada. A total of 732 players took part in it, creating a prize pool of $2.3 million. American poker pro Jonathan Jaffe emerged as the tournament’s winner, taking home the amount of $429,106.

Back in 2008, Jaffe took second place in the WPT Season VII Foxwoods Poker Finals.

But here are some highlights from the final table. Some well-known names in the world of poker took part in this closing stage of the event. One of those was Mukul Pahuja, who is currently the Season XII WPT Player of the Year.

Kevin MacPhee is yet another name that fans of the game have certainly come across. Earlier this summer, he finished sixth at a World Series of Poker event. What is more, he almost became the second player to win two European Poker Tour Main Events, when he almost emerged victorious in a tournament that was held in London not long ago. Unfortunately, he had to content himself with a runner-up position.

A total of six players were seated at the final table and ten hands were played before the time for the first elimination came. It was in Level 29 when Guillaume Nolet was defeated and sent home with $83,658 of the prize pool. Then, it was on Hand #25 when Sam Chartier left the table, too. His fifth place made him $103,537 richer.

Only ten more hands were played before Kevin MacPhee got eliminated by the soon-to-be-champion. Thus, the names of the final three became known. They were Mukul Pahuja, Ratharam Sivagnanam, and Jonathan Jaffe, of course. It was on Hand #54 in Level 31 that Jaffe eliminated Pahuja. He was awarded a total of $186,964 for his third place.

With Pahuja’s elimination, Jaffe and Sivagnanam had to face each other in a final heads-up play, the first holding the majority of chips from the very beginning. A total of 81 hands were played before the name of the champion was announced. The final hand occurred in Level 36 with Jaffe holding [Ac][Kc]

and his opponent having [10d][8d]. The board showed [6h][4s][3s][Jh][Qh]

and thus, the winner became known. Sivagnanam was given the amount of $290,111 for his runner-up position.

And as already mentioned, Jonathan Jaffe took $429,106 of the entire prize pool for his first place. With this, his winnings from poker tournaments totaled up to over $2 million.

The next World Poker Tour event will be the so-called Five Diamond World Poker Classic. It will be held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas between December 15-20.
