On Monday, the newest and the fanciest casino in the vicinity of Lake Charles opened doors for players. Its owner is the billionaire Tilman Fertitta. The name of the venue is Golden Nugget and its opening was warmly welcomed by a great number of officials and local residents.
Formerly, the property was managed by Ameristar but sixteen months ago, Fertitta acquired it and revealed his plans about its future development.
Ronnie Jones, a chairman of the Gaming Control Board of Louisiana, also approved of the establishment of the new casino and defined it as a “boon” to the local economy.
Although the casino was supposed to open on Monday, it actually started accepting visitors on Sunday evening. Everyone who was eager to enter the casino floor was allowed to do that before its official opening.
VIP guests were also given the chance to check out the $700 million property on Saturday when the building teams were about to put some finishing touches.
Local players were particularly excited about the new opening. Some of them even made several hours drive to make it to the grand opening. All 740 hotel rooms within the property were occupied.
The casino, located near Lake Charles, is the fifth one owned by Fertitta.
He has also successfully acquired Golden Nugget properties, situated in Las Vegas and Laughlin. In addition, the billionaire obtained an Atlantic City-based property that used to be managed by Trump Entertainment. Plus, a new casino in Biloxi, Mississippi has been opened recently.
As far as the Golden Nugget Casinos, managed by Fertitta, are concerned, they are branches of his private company, known as Landry’s. Although Lake Charles has never been an appealing gambling hub, now it has the chance to become an attractive destination to professional and non-professional players.
Fertitta revealed that the majority of players who requested players’ cards were based in Texas.
As a matter of fact, the new Golden Nugget Casino is located within a close proximity of another promising casino resort – L’auberge, managed by Pinnacle.
As for the facilities, available within the resort, those who have already visited the property say that there is everything necessary for a pleasant stay. Volleyball courts on the beach front, spa services, pool, a golf course is supposed to open in the beginning of spring. There are also 70 table games, 1,600 slot machines and a high limit room for risk-takers.
The resort also offers a wide variety of dining and shopping options – international cuisine as well as boutiques of some of the most popular fashion designers on a global scale can be found within the resort.
