City’s Mayor Rusty Quave commented that residents have been waiting for 22 years for the launch of a casino venue that will imminently bolster D’Iberville’s economy.
Jason Taylor, project executive for Mississippi-based construction company Roy Anderson Corp., shared that the construction of the $290-million venue is on schedule.
The casino, which is planned to spread over a 167,000-square-foot site, will not be the only facility to attract tourists. Visitors and guests of the resort will be given the opportunity to take advantage of a 15-story hotel with a total of 300 rooms, an events center, spacious enough to seat 500 people, various restaurants, a coffee shop, and a luxurious bar.
Mr. Taylor also pointed out that a large pool with tropical landscaping will be yet another attraction. But according to him, one of the most highly anticipated amenities that the resort will feature is a 36-hole miniature golf course with an erupting volcano and spectacular fountains as centerpieces.
Scarlet Pearl’s developer Land Holding I hired COST, the popular Wisconsin-based theme construction company, to take care of the volcano and to make sure that it will impress visitors and attract more of them.
Bobby Eleuterius, who is currently taking the position of a City Manager, shared that many neighbors of the property expressed their concerns about the noise that was to be made during its construction. Yet, they seemed really pleased when they were told that auger piles and not metal ones would support the Scarlet Pearl’s building.
Frank Ellsworth, who is in charge of the resort’s marketing and public relations, shared that residents of D’Iberville are particularly interested in the project. They have also been asking for jobs at its facilities.
About 200 workers are currently working on the resort’s construction site and their number is expected to reach 500. Once the casino opens doors, more than 1,200 permanent jobs will be created. Mr. Eleuterius said that city authorities are considering the opportunity to build relatively cheap housing in the nearby region so as for Scarlet Pearl’s employees to be able to walk to work.
It was announced that the podium is where the majority of restaurants and other facilities will be positioned. The resort will feature a total of eighteen stories. Of those, fifteen will be taken up by the 300-room hotel.
Mr. Taylor shared that the tower will be finished quite quickly. According to him, construction workers are building one floor per week. If things go as planned, the installation of a special glass wall curtain will start in February. Mr. Taylor said that it is going to be shipped from China.
