The Global Poker Index officials revealed information concerning the Global Poker Masters event, which is to be held this spring in Malta. The names of the players who are going to take part in the renowned freeroll were announced as well.
There will be eight countries, which will compete against each other for the Global Poker Masters award: Germany, Canada, UK, Russia, France, Italy, Ukraine and the USA.
A total of 32 players are to take part in the freeroll. They have not been randomly chosen, though. Each one of the countries above let its Player of the Year join the team. Plus, those who were ranked at second, third and fourth places were also arranged for the event. However, every country should form a team of five players but the names of the fifth ones are yet to be determined. Their participation will be via wildcard entry.
Although the event is believed to be exciting and visited by hundreds of fans, organizers made an announcement, which came as a disappointment to the fans of the poker pro Dan Colman. He is not going to be in Malta while the European Poker Tour is taking place so he will be replaced by Bryn Kenney.
According to the organizer of the event, the majority of players who have received invitations will visit it. He added that there will not be a lack of professional players although the freeroll competition will coincide with another prestigious poker event.
Global Poker Index officials revealed information about the schedule of the event.
During the first day (March 21st), players will participate in “Sit-n-go”-like competition. The team which scores the smallest amount of points is to be dropped from the freeroll tournament.
On the second day, another team will be eliminated during heads-up encounters. The final battle will be between the six remaining countries.
Global Poker Index officials have already announced that “sportifying the game of poker” is among their imminent goals.
There will not be a buy-in for the event as organizers wanted to make sure all players who love the game can enter the competition.
Those who will not manage to visit Malta at that time will have the chance to watch the live event as it will be broadcast and translated into five languages.
Organizers expressed their hopes that the Global Poker Masters event will become a widely-recognized one. Players who take part in it represent their country and if they win, the entire nation can take pride of that.
Despite the curious insights revealed, the prizes are to be announced anytime soon.
