Jay Ash and Steve Wynn Join Forces for Everett Project

Everett-Casino-plan-01-JPGDespite all ups and downs that have befallen Steve Wynn’s casino project in Everett, it looks like the outcome will be positive and Wynn will have his casino established and all troubles left behind.

It became clear that the Everett project has successfully attracted one more proponent. Actually, there would not be anything surprising if the name of the proponent in question was not Jay Ash – the previous manager of Chelsea City and one of the fierce opponents of Wynn’s project.

During the time when the name of the company, which was to build a casino in Massachusetts was still unknown, Jay Ash was among the supporters of Mohegan Sun and their plan for establishing a casino venue in Revere.

Currently, Ash is a Secretary of Gov. Charlie Baker. Both Wynn and Ash admitted that the heated debates and disagreements they had, are in days gone by.

What is more, Jay Ash admitted that he has always been a proponent of expanding the untapped gambling market in Massachusetts. Although he thought Suffolk Downs would be a more suitable location, his appointment as a Secretary of the Commonwealth changed the situation and he is no longer allowed to put his own preferences before state’s interests.

Ash said he would support everyone who is willing to invest a considerable sum of money into the state of Massachusetts.

During the celebration, which took place at Everett City Hall a few days ago, Ash was a guest of honor and his presence was warmly welcomed by Steve Wynn himself.

The spokesperson of Wynn Resorts said that company’s executives have no hesitations in working in collaboration with Secretary Ash. What is more, they believe his support would be extremely helpful when it comes to diversifying state’s economy and providing local residents with career opportunities.

People, familiar with the matter, did not miss to remind that not long ago, Ash kept saying that Wynn’s decision to establish his casino venue in Everett was wrong. The current Secretary was trying to protect Chelsea from all traffic and environmental issues it was about to experience because of its close proximity to Everett.

Steve Wynn assured local communities that Chelsea will not be severely affected and he even offered a compensation for dealing with the traffic issues but Ash required a fee several times bigger than the one proposed by Wynn. Given the circumstances, they could not reach an agreement.

Nevertheless, Ash said that he is still worried about the traffic and environmental issues that will inevitably affect the region during the casino construction. He said that these problems require authorities urgent attention since neglecting them would have a devastating effect on state’s infrastructure and environment.
