Initially, local gambling regulators had to decide whether to grant a license to Echo Entertainment or Crown Resorts at the beginning of the year but it became clear that they are going to take their final decision no earlier than June.

Meanwhile, further details about the projects, proposed by the two competitors have been revealed.

In case Echo Entertainment gets the nod for the Brisbane casino, a super luxurious resort is to be built. It will include five hotels, an underground mall that serves as a link between the new casino and the Ritz-Carlton hotel. There will be three residential towers as well.

Although details related to the bid itself have not been publicly revealed, people familiar with the matter believe that the total number of rooms will be over 1000. As for the skyscrapers, they are said to be 50-story ones.

The number of apartments located within the resort is to reach 1200.

Along with the project preparations, Matt Bekier, CEO of Echo Entertainment Group visited Brisbane and announced company’s partnership with TAFE. In addition, Bekier said that their joint venture will ensure customer service of the highest class.

The proposal of Echo’s competitor – Crown, includes two super luxurious hotels and 2500 hotel rooms along with numerous dining, entertainment and gambling facilities.

In case Echo is granted the right to build the Brisbane casino, its venue, currently located at the Treasury building, is to be relocated to The Arc. In other words, it will be on the site where the Executive Building is situated but it is about to be demolished soon.

Echo’s business partner – Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Ltd, will be in charge of renovating the Treasury building. The skyscraper will accommodate the Dorsett and Rosewood-branded hotels. A glass-paneled restaurant will also contribute to the unique experience of each and every guest.

And the best is yet to come. The six-star hotel designed to resemble The Darling will be another important feature of the future resort.

The Arc building itself will accommodate the casino. It will be supposed to attract predominantly high roller players from the affluent Asian countries. Plenty of restaurants, offering fine cuisine will also be available.

Mr. Bekier commented on Echo’s proposal and the impact it will have on the local economy in particular. He said that foreigners should be given a convincing reason to visit Brisbane. Having an attractive casino venue, offering various exclusive facilities would definitely have a positive influence on the tourism sector.
