The victory of Schwartz comes only a few weeks after he finished fourth from a field of 55 entries in the World Poker Tour Alpha8 super high roller event, which was held in late December.
The fourth place in the largest field of WPT Alpha8 did not stop him from winning the Alpha8 event with the smallest field. This makes him the first poker player to win both a WPT main event and got a title Alpha8 titles in his home state of Florida.
Only six players took part in the buy-in, which amounted to $100,000, and the prize of $585,000 went to the winner. Noah Schwartz managed to become the last man standing in a field, which included players such as Byron Kaverman, Jason Mercier, Bryn Kenney and the 2014 Card Player of the Year – Daniel Colman.
The first player, who hit the rail was Bryn Kenney, who moved all-in, followed by Jason Mercier. The latter was fifth after facing Schindler, who kept the spirit and eliminated Dan Colman in fourth, preventing him from grabbing his second Alpha8 title.
Schwartz also beat Byron Kaverman and his card hand. In the end, the 2014 POY eight-place finisher Jake Schindler was the last obstacle, which parted Schwartz from the first rank. Schindler was defeated heads-up.
The victory in the tournament was the seventh one in Schwartz’s career and brought his lifetime live tournament earnings to a total of $5,200,182. The money, however, was not the only prize. The winner also got the Alpha8 trophy, a gold pair of Monster 24k headphones and a Hublot King Power Unico watch made of titanium.
Schwartz himself announced his victory in Instagram and called the moment “a true blessing and historic”. He also expressed his gratitude to all his fans, who have been supporting him over the tournament.
The President of the World Poker Tournament – Mr. Adam Pliska – shared in an interview for a reputable media that he intended to organize a greater number of Alpha8 events, but the WPT organizers soon realized that they had to take into account the overall state of the poker economy. According to Mr. Pliska, the economy has been currently facing some difficulties in order to maintain the pace, which had been set by organizers.
