After numerous setbacks and issues with local communities and gambling officials, Wynn Resorts is about to start the building procedures of its Everett Casino.
The eastern part of Massachusetts is about to have its first resort established and opened for visitors within two years.
Later today, Steve Wynn is expected to reveal details about the design of the future resort during a meeting with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Wynn Resorts is the company given the green light to build a casino in the vicinity of Boston. The entire project was estimated to cost $1.6 billion. It is to spread over 33 acres of land. There will be gambling, dining and entertainment facilities of the highest class.
Actually, Wynn’s intention was a 27-story tower hotel to be established but Massachusetts gambling regulators considered that idea to be too excessive.
That is why Wynn had to make a few changes related to tower’s design otherwise he might have been rejected a license.
A total of four casino venues are to be established on the territory of the state but Wynn’s casino resort is believed to become the most appealing and profitable one.
Last Thursday, Steve Wynn himself announced that his plans for building “grand hotels” in Everett are no longer included in the proposal.
Wynn went on to provide the communities with further details related to the interior and exterior of the future luxurious casino resort.
There will be indoor gardens in the lobby area, which will also accommodate impressive flower figures and a Popeye sculpture created by the notable artist Jeff Koons.
Wynn seemed to be content with the design of the lobby area in particular and added that it “sounds like fun”.
As for the other facilities that will be available for guests and players, they are said to be capable of exceeding visitors’ expectations. According to the plan, which was reviewed and approved by state authorities a few months ago, the number of hotel rooms is expected to be 500. There will be eight luxurious restaurants, a convention area and plenty of shopping opportunities.
The casino the resort is to accommodate, will feature 150 table games and 3,000 slot machines.
Apart from being an attractive place for tourists and locals, the Everett casino will be beneficial to the economy of Massachusetts as well. It will not only contribute to state coffers by paying the respective taxes, but it will also provide a significant number of local residents with career opportunities.
As mentioned above, the resort will open sometime in 2017. During the construction procedure there will be 3,700 job positions available. Once it is open for players, more than 4,000 permanent workers will be needed.
