European fans of the poker game and those based in Italy, in particular, have recently flooded the social media with comments related to the problematic poker sector in Italy.
What made players particularly worried were the issues the Italian branch of PokerStars has been going through during the last couple of months.

Those who keep themselves informed about the Italian poker affairs know that the segment has been experiencing a significant downfall. The annual revenue for 2014 was €187 million. By comparison, the numbers reported two years ago were totalling €341 million.
In addition, Trucco said that PokerStars officials are currently considering alternatives for making the platform more attractive to new and recreational players by ensuring the services available are more exciting. Plus, new features will be added and the products will become compatible with mobile devices.
Trucco also said that PokerStars can take pride in being a well-recognised brand and the games available are regarded as exciting ones that require players’ dedication and determination to improve their skills.
In point of fact, people with knowledge on the matter, believe that Trucco is to blame for the rapid decrease. Since he took the reigns of PokerStars Italy, the local market has started experiencing issues with the liquidity and the lack of control related to the operators that provide illegal poker activities on the territory of the country.
In his defense, Trucco said that there is a great difference between the international and the local market. As for the Italian poker sector he said that the regulation was good but the issues stemmed from the segregation. Apart from that, the number of illegal gambling providers have rapidly increased over the last few months, which caused additional setbacks.
Trucco confirmed his previous announcement and put emphasis on the importance of new products and services believed to help the struggling sector “bounce back”.
As a matter of fact, Italian gaming regulators are likely to accept proposals suggesting innovative approaches for revitalizing the gambling sector with the aim of boosting the revenues.
However, new products will be introduced after careful consideration of all advantages and disadvantages, since the last thing officials want is to disappoint the players.
