The crowned victor, Mr. Sesay, held the chip lead at the final table of the event and grabbed the title. He got not only the money reward of $31,116 but also won the right to participate at the WPTDeepStacks World Championship that is to be held in Calgary.
A total of 13 players started the final day. At first, Mario Sciberras from Malta was the chip leader. He hoped to use this advantage in order to win the championship, but then at the final table the lead was held by Sulaiman Sesay. Nine players sat at the final table.
The two shortest stacks were quickly lost at the final table. The ninth and eight places were taken by Manuel Lopes and Claudio Inchimurelli, respectively. They were followed by Miroslav Petrov, who occupied the seventh place, when his pocket eights failed to surpass Sesay’s hand of pocket jacks.
Chavdar Yanev’s hand also failed against the one of Fabio Berti and took the sixth place. Then, Mario Sciberras eliminated Ina Pavlova with a hand of pocket jacks against her [A]-[9], and became second in chips. However, Sciberras did not make it to the final three as he lost all of his chips in two hands only. First, Sciberras doubled up Giuseppe Polichetti, and then lost the rest of his chips against the [A]-[8]
hand of Sesay.
Fabio Berti was the third one to depart from the final table, after the pocket threes of Sesay eliminated Berti’s hand of Q-9 and left the last two men standing.
On the final hand Sesay had [Ac]-[9s], while Polichetti held [9c]-[8c]. The final battle between the two opponents ended with the victory of Sesay with [9d], [7s]
and [6h]
on flop, [Ah]
on turn and [8s]
on river.
