A total of 167 players entered yesterday’s game. Of those, only 54 managed to survive throughout the ten one-hour levels. The event attracted not only regular participants in Unibet Open, but also a number of prominent Danish poker pros, such as Rasmus Agerskov Larsen, Jonas Klausen, and Jannick Wrang.
Unfortunately, the latter players did not do quite well. Wrang, who has previously won several EPT events, was eliminated first of all Danish players who entered the event. Klausen, a well-known and experienced player, also left the tournament, although it could be said that he had a relatively good start.
Larsen, who is currently taking the 30th place in the all time money list of Denmark, seems to be trying to move forward and yesterday, he made his way towards his goal by doubling his chips after winning a major hand against Tina Beyer Christensen.
Reportedly, Dutch poker pro Vincent van der Fluit was the only WSOP bracelet winner to take part in Day 1A of the Unibet Main Event. However, it appears that he was out of luck yesterday, as he got eliminated by Nenad Sremcevic in Level 4 of the play.
As mentioned above, only 54 players managed through the one-hour levels of Day 1A. Jouny Hanna finished as the chip leader, holding 203,000 in chips. The Swede finished 60th at the EPT Deauville / FPS Season 4, Deauville Main Event, which took place in the beginning of February. His total live earnings amount to $13,304.
Hanna is followed by Benjamin Westergaard, who had 200,000 in chips after the end of Day 1A of the Main Event. Next comes Michael Møllgaard with 197,500.
Day 1B is set to start today at 12:00 pm (local time). It, too, will feature ten one-hour levels. Organizers announced that a total of 200 poker pros will take part in the event, which means that it has been entirely sold. Yet, some more tables are expected to be added. The buy-in fee is €1,100.
Furthermore, Day 2 of the Main Event is scheduled for tomorrow, February 28, at 12:00. The Final Table will take place on March 1, at 14:00.
