Las Vegas-based gambling operator Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. announced that Charles Atwood joined the company’s Board of Directors as of March 12.
At present, Mr. Atwood is a Lead Trustee for Equity Residential, a New York-listed real estate investment trust. He is also a board member at U.K.-headquartered gaming provider Gala Coral Group, as well as at Las Vegas-based gaming company ALST Casino Holdings, LLC.
In fact, Mr. Atwood has more than 30 years experience in the field as he took various gambling-related positions. Back in 1979, he started working for Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc, which was rebranded to Caesars Entertainment, Inc in 2010. He was responsible for the company’s financial and development matters. He took the position of Chief Financial Officer between 2001 and 2006. In 2005, he became a Board member. A year later, he was appointed as the gambling operator’s Vice Chairman. He retired from that position in December 2008.
James L. Martineau, currently taking the position of Chairman of Pinnacle Entertainment’s Board, shared with media that the decision for Mr. Atwood’s appointment came after back in the fall of 2014, the company decided to divide its real estate assets and its operating assets into two separate entities. The gaming operator’s Board started looking for someone with considerable experience in the gambling industry as well as in REIT and financial matters.
Mr. Martineau said he is looking forward to working with Mr. Atwood. He added that he believes the appointment of Mr. Atwood will be good for the company, due to the fact that he has more than 30 years of experience in the gambling industry. What is more, his financial knowledge and his experience in the field of real estate will certainly help the company achieve its goal to increase its shareholder value as much as possible and will benefit its shareholders.
Mr. Martineau did not miss to thank Richard Goeglein, who is leaving the Board after more than 12 years of service. At some point, he was even taking the position of a Board Chairman.
An annual stockholders’ meeting is set to take place. During it, stockholders will need to cast their vote on the election of several directors who would serve a term on the company’s Board of Directors, with Mr. Atwood and Mr. Martineau being among those.
At present, Pinnacle Entertainment is managing a total of 15 gaming properties, located across the United States.
