Presque Isle Downs & Casino Seeks Approval to Introduce Amenities

News

Officials of Presque Isle Downs & Casino submitted a request for reducing the number of slot machines and table games they currently have. The request comes at a time when casino executives are planning to invest the sum of $5 million into certain property improvements.

However, the proposed amenities have to be reviewed by the members of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. That is expected to happen tomorrow when casino representatives are expected to seek regulator’s approval.

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has to approve or reject casino officials’ request for a slight reduction of the slot machines. Currently, there are 1,720 and if regulators give their consent, they are expected to decrease to 1,580. As for the table games, people with knowledge on the matter believe that they will be reduced to 42.

Presque Isle Downs is managed by Eldorado. The aforementioned numbers were revealed in a special petition on the matter. It was also mentioned in the petition that the reason which has led to the necessity of reduction of the existing gambling facilities was company’s intention to provide its guests with ultimate experience by making the improvements needed.

The general manager of the casino property – Jeff Favre, was reluctant to comment on the upcoming renovations before the members of the Gaming Control Board announce their final decision.

Yet, people with knowledge on the matter reminded that he had previously shared that a center bar as well as flat-screen televisions are likely to be added. The sound and light are also to be upgraded with the aim of ensuring the atmosphere at the casino floor is gripping.

As for the changes concerning the table games and slot machines, they will be applied so an optimization of the floor space is achieved. Establishing of specific smoking and non-smoking areas and enhancing the exterior are included in the refurbishment plan, too.
Old slot machines are also likely to be substituted with newer ones.

Despite their reluctance to provide official information before the Board meeting takes place, casino executives confirmed that the renovation process will not cause inconvenience to the guests and the entire project is expected to be completed no later than June.

Apart from providing utmost gambling experience, there is another reason for the slot machines reduction. Statistics shows that the increased competition from Ohio-based casinos affected the revenue in a negative manner.

If Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approves of the reduction of slot machines and table games, they will be removed from Presque Isle Downs & Casino within two months.
