Day 1 of the 2015 Hollywood Poker Open Grantville $1,115 Main Event was completed mere hours ago and Day 2 has just started. Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantville, Pennsylvania is playing host to the two-day event, which attracted a total 92 players.

This time last year, there were only 37 players to enter it and it was Bradley Yazici to emerge victorious and capture the first-place prize of $22,752.

Day 1 of this year’s $1,115 Main Event was completed after a total of fourteen fifty-minute levels. All players that were eliminated during the first six levels were allowed to re-enter the tournament, in case they wanted to. Day 2 has just kicked off with only 18 players left to contend for the first-place prize of $29,342.

The Main Event’s first day ended with Jeremy Cline as the chip leader. The player managed to collect a total of 274,000 in chips. Cline was closely followed by Michael Nolan with 260,500. Chris Moneymaker finished third with 199,000.

In fact, the Tennessee-based poker pro is seeking his second Hollywood Poker Open title, as he won the $1,800 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event in St. Louis, Missouri last year. Back then, he received $36,259 for his first place.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Moneymaker is some sort of a poker legend. The player won the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event after a heads-up play against Sam Farha. He was paid $2.5 million, which is still his biggest cash from live tournaments.

What made his achievement so notable was the fact that he had won his way to the Main Event and to the title through a $39 online satellite tournament at PokerStars. Furthermore, he was the first ever poker player to do this. The player’s performance at the event is still referred to as the Moneymaker Effect. So far, Moneymaker has won a total of $3,583,799 and is taking the 135th place in the U.S. all time money list.

Day 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open Main Event has just started. Only 9 of all 18 remaining entries will be paid. They will play sixty-minute levels with breaks at every two levels until the big champion is determined. As mentioned above, the winner will be paid the amount of $29,342.
