As reported yesterday, gambling operator Metro Play Limited, owner of online casino brand 666BET, has finally released a statement on having its UK and Alderney licenses suspended by the local gambling regulators as of March 20.
A few days ago, indignant players filed a petition, in which they demanded the prompt return of their account funds. They have not been able to withdraw their money since the site was shut down in March. Back then, the UK Gambling Commission released a statement on the matter, saying that it had not imposed any restrictions related to the processing of the funds in question and that the operator did not need a license for that purpose.
On April 14, Metro Play Limited explained on its Facebook page that 666BET would be able to refund all its customers only if it is online. The operator, however, said it would need to work with a third-party company, in order to resume its operations.
Metro Play Limited further commented that it has been in negotiations with such a company, but was notified by it that the UK Gambling Commission would need to approve their partnership before any further actions were taken.
Earlier today, the UK gambling regulator informed CasinoNewsDaily that it had made it clear Metro Play Limited was authorized to refund all its customers, despite the fact that it had its license suspended. Furthermore, the Commission had not specified by what kind of method the gambling operator should pay players. It also denied Metro Play Limited’s claim that its potential partner had reached the regulator for its approval.
The gambling operator, too, was notified about the UK Gambling Commission’s latest statement. It reiterated on its official Facebook page that it had been informed by the unnamed third-party platform provider that 666BET could be brought back online only after the gambling regulator’s approval. Metro Play Limited also pointed out that it has been waiting for the Commission’s authorization since the end of March.
The Alderney-based gambling company promised that it will consider different ways to pay its customers and more information is expected to be revealed on Monday. However, Metro Play Limited made it clear that a third-party payment method providers will most definitely be involved in the process, so as for customers to be able to withdraw their money quickly and securely.
