Mere hours ago, it was announced that another poker legend has left PokerStars. Jonathan Duhamel – the poker player who emerged victorious at the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, will no longer be part of Team PokerStars Pro.
PokerStars representatives remained tight-lipped about the reason that led to Jonathan Duhamel’s departure from the popular poker platform. The only information they revealed was that the contract was terminated and they were not going to work in collaboration in future.
Those who keep themselves informed about the career of the poker star were not too surprised by the announcement his contract was terminated. During the World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, the Canadian player did not wear the t-shirt with PokerStars’ logo on it, which created room for different speculations about his future endeavors. His name has already been removed from the website section where members of the Team PokerStars Pro are introduced.
Jonathan Duhamel has been working with PokerStars over the last four years and during that time, he achieved major accomplishments as far as his poker career is concerned. He successfully added almost $13 million to his bank account, which ensured him a runner-up position in the list of Canadian players who managed to earn considerable amounts through taking part in live poker tournaments.
Although his greatest victory was the bracelet he was awarded with in 2010 WSOP Main Event, there are some other prestigious poker tournaments Jonathan Duhamel took part in.
He was the winner of 2011 European Poker Tour Deauville High Roller. In 2012, however, he had to content himself with the runner-up position in the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller. He finished eighth at the WSOP $50,000 Poker Players’ Championship in 2013. This year, he participated in a PCA Main Event, a WPT Fallsview Main Event and an EPT Malta Main Event.
Another venture he started while working with PokerStars was the book he published. It is intended predominantly for poker players willing to find out more about the poker tactics and strategies that increase their chances of winning.
The book, entitled “Final Table: A Winning Poker Approach from an WSOP Champion” managed to gain sufficient popularity. As its title suggests, readers have the chance to learn more about the game of poker from a skillful player and an WSOP champion.
This is not the first player who leaves PokerStars’ team. Angel Guillen, Dario Minieri, Alex Kravchenko, Marcel Luske also cut ties with the platform.
