Gaming software developer Playtech and online gambling operator Unibet have both announced that they are to launch sports betting applications for the new Apple Watch.
The Playtech app comes as part of the company’s plan to expand its omni-channel offering. It was developed by a team of mobile developers who had previously worked on the Android sports betting app which was launched not long ago.
Playtech also explained that its Apple Watch app is, in fact, an extension to Coral Connect, an omni-channel solution, which the software developer runs together with UK-based gambling operator Gala Coral.
The company noted that customers will be able to place bets, browse live and future sports events, and keep themselves informed about upcoming promotions by means of special technology linked to their iOS mobile app. The Apple Watch app will also have a cashout feature.
Playtech also pointed out that it is working with several other licensees on the further introduction of the Apple Watch app.
Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer of Playtech, commented that his company is “well ahead” of its competitors on the launch of the new development. He also said that Playtech has the necessary expertise, technology, resource, and support to offer to its customers a solution of this kind.
As mentioned above, the software developer was not the only one to launch a special sports betting app compatible with the new Apple Watch. Online gambling operator Unibet has also developed a similar solution that would allow its customers to keep themselves informed about horse racing and football events and for the latest results, in particular, and to place their bets.
Ed Nicholson, Head of Unibet’s UK sportsbook marketing and product operations, said that they expect the Apple Watch users to initially use their device as a means for communication and an information tool. It will give them the opportunity to “weed out the wheat from the chaff” of all the information that reaches their mobile devices.
Mr. Nicholson pointed out that they have made sure that their app would provide customers only with relevant content and would make it possible for them to access the information they need more easily than ever before.
The Apple Watch was officially launched today in a number of regions around the world.
