Ryan Jones Wins WSOPC Harrah’s Cherokee Casino $1,675 Main Event

The WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee Casino $1,675 Main Event was completed a few hours ago, after Ryan Jones topped the field of 786 entries to win the amount of $235,804, the special WSOPC ring, and a seat into the WSOP National Championship.

As mentioned above, the event attracted a field of 786 players who created a prize pool of $1,179,000. However, only the final 81 entries were to be paid.

As many as 14 players returned for the last day of the Main Event and it did not take long before the nine-handed final table was set. It started with Jones as the chip leader, holding 3,200,000. He was closely followed by David Williams with 3,120,000 and Garry Simms with 2,900,000.

In fact, it was Simms who left the final table first. The player was eliminated in 9th place by Williams and received $22,271. Peter Vitantonio was the next to go, as he, too, fell victim to Williams. He received $28,048 for his 8th place.

Martin Roberts was then busted by Jones and Michael Sewell was knocked out by Williams. The two players were paid $35,759 and $46,158, respectively.

Diana Dinser was the next to leave the final table. Her 5th place at the event secured her with a payday of $60,329. Then, both Adam West and Clifford Billups were defeated by Williams. The two players received $79,877 and $107,171 for their efforts, and their elimination marked the beginning of the heads-up play.

At first, it was Williams who held the majority of chips, but Jones managed to quickly catch up and take the lead. On what turned out to be the last hand of play, the soon-to-be-champion had [Kd][Qh] against his opponent’s [Ks][8s]. The board ran out [Qs][8h][3d][Kh] on the turn and Jones shoved all-in. Williams called after giving it some thought. [4h] appeared on the river, but it was of no help to any of the players.

Holding the weaker two pair, Williams had to content himself with a runner-up finish and the consolation prize of $145,371. As for the champion, he was paid the amount of $235,804.

The WSOP Circuit is to return to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino on July 23, as this year’s WSOP National Championship Series will be held there. A number of events are set to take place up to August 2. The National Championship itself is to kick of on July 29. The event is an official gold bracelet one and entries will be given the opportunity to win more than $1 million in prize money.
