After this week’s update of the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, Polish player Dzmitry Urbanovich still ranks first with 2,483.10 points, followed by Argentinian Ivan Luca with 2,409.51 points. The only change in top 3 came with Joe Kuether replacing last week’s №3 Connor Drinan. Currently, Kuether has a total of 2,303.33 points. Last week, he ranked 5th in the leaderboard.

In order to be included in the GPI Player of the Year ranking, a player should enter live tournaments with buy-in fees of no less than $1 or any other currency. In addition, the events they take part in should feature at least 20 more players and should be open to public. The GPI Player of the Year leaderboard ranks those live tournament players who have performed best since the beginning of the calendar year and have collected most points.

It could be said that Kuether has been quite active over the past four months. The Wisconsin-based player has cashed in a total of 12 events so far. Back in January, he finished 2nd in the PCA $24,000 + 1,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed event, held on the Paradise Island. There, Kuether received $1,050,000, his biggest live cash so far.

In February, the player ranked 2nd in the Deep Stack Extravaganza I $1,600 No-Limit Hold’em event in Las Vegas with a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000. There, he was paid a consolation prize of $109,877 for his runner-up finish.

In April, Kuether took part in the Borgata Spring Poker Open $2,500 + 200 No-Limit Hold’em Event #8 and finished 6th for $51,489.

Previously, the player received $424,044 for his 5th place in the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5,300 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. Furthermore, he was paid $246,161 for winning the 9th Annual Arizona State Poker Championship $1,000 + 80 No-Limit Hold’em event in 2013, and $162,240 for his 6th place in the 2013 Bay 101 Shooting Stars $7,150 + 350 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. And the list with his achievements goes on and on.

So far, Kuether has a total of $3,955,462 in live tournament earnings. The player ranks 1st in the Wisconsin money list and 180th in the all time money list. Furthermore, he is 11th in the GPI leadearboard with a total of 3,227.65 points.
