The European Poker Tour Season 11 Grand Final is currently taking place at Monte-Carlo Casino in Monaco. The tournament is to run through May 8, with the Main Event scheduled for May 2-8. The €100,000 Super High Roller is yet another event that deserves to be paid special attention. Its eight-handed final table is set to start today at 12:30 local time.

The Super High Roller with a buy-in fee of €100,000 attracted a total of 71 players who created a prize pool of a little less than €6.9 million. Of all the entries, only 9 are to be given a share of the money. Russian player Vladimir Troyanovskiy was the first to be paid, after he was eliminated in 9th place by his fellow countryman Igor Kurganov last night. He received the amount of €199,620.

Speaking of money, the EPT Super High Roller champion will be paid the impressive amount of €2,015,000. The runner-up will receive a consolation prize of €1,446,600 and the player who finishes third will be given €940,300.

Given its buy-in fee, it is not a surprise that the event attracted some of the most popular and profitable poker pros in the world. However, players like Phil Ivey, who was eliminated by Kurganov, Daniel Negreanu, who could not stand a chance against Ole Schemion, as well as the German himself could not make it to the payouts and the final table.

Defending champion Daniel Colman was also busted surprisingly early in play. The player received more than €1.5 million for winning the €100,000 Super High Roller event last year.

As mentioned above, the final table is set to start in a few hours with Italian Dario Sammartino as the chip leader. The player finished the previous day with 4,480,000 in chips. He was followed by Kurganov with 3,645,000 and Thomas Muehloecker with 2,290,000. Max Altergott (2,215,000), Erik Seidel (2,170,000), Fedor Holz (1,650,000), Dzmitry Urbanovich (735,000), and Scott Seiver (470,000) are the rest of the players that are to be seen at the final table.

Sammartino is no stranger to the EPT, as he has taken part and cashed in a number of events. Recently, he finished 2nd in the EPT Season 11/IPT Season 7 €1,000 + 100 #58 No-Limit Hold’em and 9th in the €1,000 + 100 #43 No-Limit Hold’em events in Malta’s Portomaso Casino.

The player has also made it to the money in WSOP as well as other prestigious events over the past several years. For instance, he scored $91,670 in the 45th World Series of Poker $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed Event #32 back in 2014. His biggest live cash so far amounts to €95,000 ($130,849) from the IPT Season 5 €630 + 70 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, where he took a runner-up position.

Sammartino’s live earnings currently total $1,289,364. The player is 47th in the GPI ranking and 266th in the GPI Player of the Year ranking.
