The event attracted a total of 370 players who created a prize pool of C$1,148,480. The winner is to receive the amount of C$237,390 as well as a seat into the WPT Season XIV World Championship.
Day 4 will see 15 players returning and will continue up until the six-handed final table is set. Canadian Samuel Tsehai is to start the day as the chip leader with a total of 1,522,000. He is followed by Sheraz Nasir with 1,207,000 and Trevor Delaney with 1,141,000, the other two players who managed to collect over 1 million in chips during Day 3 of the event.
Lu Zhang, who finished 9th in the 2015 Fallsview Poker Classic Main Event, Eric Afriat, who won the 2014 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Championship, and Australian Jonathan Karamalikis, who is a former APPT champion, are also among those who will try to make it to the final table.
It could be said that Tsehai is not a particularly popular player, or at least not until now. According to latest information, he has cashed in as many as four events up to now. In 2013, the player finished 25th at the Playground Poker Fall Classic $3,500 + 350 No-Limit Hold’em WPT Montreal Main Event for $18,339.
In 2014, he took part in the Playground Poker Montreal Festival C$1,000 + 100 Playground Poker Montreal Festival Main Event, where he finished 94th and was paid $2,082.
Earlier this year, Tsehai was seen at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure held on the Paradise Island. There, the player cashed in two events – the $9,700 + 600 #7 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, where he finished 70th and received $24,140, his biggest live cash so far, and the $970 + 130 #25 No-Limit Hold’em, where he finished 30th for $2,420.
Up to now, Tsehai has a total of $46,981 in live tournament winnings.
WPT’s next stop will be at the Holland Casino in Amsterdam. The tournament is scheduled to start on May 11 and will continue through May 16.
