The EPT Season 11 Grand Final €10,600 Main Event was completed late last night with Spanish player Adrian Mateos topping the field of 564 entries and winning the first-place prize of €1,082,000, the tournament trophy, and an exclusive SLYDE watch.

The eight-handed final table started on Day 5 and two players – Koichi Nozaki from Japan and Markus Ross from Germany, were eliminated before organizers called it a day. Nozaki received €120,700 for his 8th place and Ross was paid €174,300 for finishing 7th in the event.

Apart from Mateos, players like Ole Schemion, Jose Carlos Garcia, and Muhyedine Fares were also among those who returned for Day 6.

In fact, the day started with, Hady El Asmar as the chip leader, holding 3,970,000. He was closely followed by Fares with 3,955,000, and Schemion with 3,530,000.

Although the German was among the favorites for the title and probably the most popular player at the final table, he was busted in 6th place by Mateos. This happened in Level 28. Schemion received €233,500 of the prize pool.

Jose Carlos Garcia was eliminated only nine hands later. The player, who competed for Poland, fell victim to Fares. He took home the amount of €297,250 for finishing 5th in the event.

PokerStars Team Pro Johnny Lodden was the next to go. It was in Level 29 when he was defeated by El Asmar. His 4th place secured him with €379,000 of the entire prize pool.

It took one level before another player was seen go. El Asmar was busted in 3rd place by Fares. The player was paid the amount of €486,000. With his elimination, the heads-up play between Mateos and Fares was set. It started with Fares holding two times more chips than his opponent.

Within the course of one level, Mateos managed to catch up and take the lead. Hand #223 in Level 31 turned out to be the last one. Mateos had [Ah][8s] against Fares’ [As][6s]. The Spanish player moved all-in and his opponent called. The board ran out [2d][9h][8h][Qs][Qc] and that was all for Fares. He had to settle for €679,000 for his runner-up finish.

As mentioned above, Mateos captured €1,082,000 ($1,214,161) for winning the Main Event. The EPT title, however, is not the first major one that the player has won. In 2013, he triumphed in the WSOP Europe €10,000 + 450 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, which was held in France. There, Mateos captured €1,000,000.

After last night, his earnings from live tournaments amount to almost $3.5 million.
