The LAPT Season 8 Panama $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry Main Event, which took place at the Sortis Hotel, Spa & Casino in Panama City, was completed last night. It attracted 422 players who created a prize pool of $930,932.

Canada-based player Shakeeb Kazemipur topped the field to be awarded the amount of $180,112. Kazemipur was busted on Day 1A of the event but re-entered on Day 1B and ended both Day 1 and Day 2 as the chip leader. Furthermore, he started the eight-handed final table as second in chips.

It is interesting to note that Kazemipur managed to eliminate every single of his opponents at the final table except for one.

American player Derek Ecenarro was the first to fall victim to the Canadian. He was paid the amount of $21,220 for his 8th place. Ecenarro was then followed by fellow countryman Pierce Mckellar. The player received $29,880 for finishing 7th. Damian Salas from Argentina was the next to go. He, too, could not make it against Kazemipur. His portion of the prize pool amounted to $39,760.

Canadian Francois Lincourt was then busted by Iermolcheva. He received $50,740 for finishing 5th in the event.

Later on, Kazemipur took care of Francisco Rocha from Chile and Tullio Bertoli from Venezuela to set the heads-up play between him and Iermolcheva. Rocha and Bertoli took home $64,700 and $81,460, respectively.

Even though Kazemipur took down almost every single player at the final table, the heads-up play started with Iermolcheva as the chip leader. The Canadian, however, managed to quickly double up and take the lead.

On what turned out to be the last hand in play, Kazemipur held [Ac][Kh] against his opponent’s [Jh][Js]. An ace appeared on the board and that was all for Iermolcheva. The Ukrainian took home the amount of $113,580.

And as mentioned above, Kazemipur was awarded $180,112 for winning the event. In fact, this was his second live tournament cash after earlier in 2015, he received C$3,000 ($2,410) for finishing 33rd at the C$1,000 + 100 No-Limit Hold’em Playground Winter Festival Main Event.

The LAPT will next be traveling to Lima, Peru for a five-day tournament starting from July 17 and running through July 21. Atlantic City Casino will play host to the event.
