The Global Poker Index has released the weekly update of its GPI leaderboard. American Scott Seiver remained at the top for a third consecutive week with a total of 3,972.33 points. Ole Schemion, who ranked 3rd last week, is 2nd now. The player currently has 3,878.61 points. Dan Smith climbed 17 positions over the past seven days to take the 3rd place in the leaderboard. He has managed to collect 3,828.71 points since the beginning of this calendar year.
Davidi “Kitbul” Kitai (3,745.14 points) and Byron Kaverman (3,670.90 points) are the other two players to be part of top 5 of the ranking.
Dan Smith is a well-known name in the world of poker. At present, the player is a Team Ivey Poker sponsored member. He has one WPT title so far and has taken part in numerous WPT, WSOP, EPT, and other prestigious events.
Over the course of the past seven days, Smith managed to collect almost 800 points and to win more than $250,000 at the EPT Season 11 Grand Final in Monaco. First, he won the €5,000 + 200 No-Limit Hold’em Midnight Hyperturbo event for €109,370 ($122,134) and 364.75 points for the GPI leaderboard. Only a day later, Smith finished 8th in the €25,000 + 500 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed for €137,400 and 394.52 points.
So far, Smith’s total live tournament winnings amount to $9,180,216. He scored his biggest live cash last June, when he won the $100,000 + 2,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller at the Bellagio, Las Vegas for $2,044,766.
The player got his only WPT title back in 2013, when he triumphed in the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic $10,000 + 300 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. There, Smith captured $1,161,135 of the entire prize pool.
Other major achievements in his career include his 1st places in the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$100,000 + 500 No-Limit Hold’em event for A$1,012,000 ($1,041,828) and the EPT Season 9 Barcelona €50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller for €962,925 ($1,183,100).
As for his performance in 2015, Smith cashed in two EPT Season 11 Grand Final events, two EPT Malta events for €9,120 ($9,865) and €24,350 ($26,475), as well as in one WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars event for $3,980.
The player ranks 24th in the US money list and 38th in the all time money list.
