This week’s update of the Global Poker Index leaderboard showed American player Scott Seiver remaining at its top for a third consecutive week, followed by German Ole Schemion and fellow countryman Dan Smith.

Martin Jacobson, the Swedish player who won the 2014 WSOP Main Event back in November 2014, climbed 24 positions to enter top 20 of the leaderboard. Currently, he ranks 16th with a total of 2,840.03 points, collected since the beginning of this calendar year. The player took the 20th place at the very beginning of the 2015. Later on, he dropped significantly to rank 57th at some point. His return to top 20 was due to the 367.77 points he collected for finishing 10th at the EPT Season 11 Grand Final €25,000 + 500 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed event, where he was paid €96,300 ($107,338).

As mentioned above, Jacobson won the WSOP Main Event, held late last year at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The player received $10 million after he topped the field of 6,683 entrants and faced Norwegian Felix Stephensen in a one-hour heads-up play. Up to date, this is his biggest live cash.

Other important achievements in his career include his 6th place at the 44th WSOP $111,111 No-Limit Hold’em One Drop High Roller for $807,427, his runner-up finish at the EPT Season 7 Deauville €5,000 + 300 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for €560,000 ($762,185), and his 2nd place at the EPT Season 7 Vilamoura €5,000 + 300 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for €297,985 ($378,706).

As for his performance in 2015, apart from the 10th place at the EPT Grand Final €25,000 High Roller Event, Jacobson cashed in three EPT Season 11/IPT Season 7 Malta events. There, the player scored €12,800 ($13,846), €4,900 ($5,254), and €2,300 ($2,435).

Up to now, his live tournament winnings amount to $15,037,973. The player ranks 1st in his country’s money list and 10th in the all time money list. The player is also currently taking the 175th place in the GPI Player of the Year ranking with a total of 816.42 points.

Back in February 2015, Jacobson donated $250,000, or 5% of his live tournament cashes, to the Raising for Effective Giving poker charity. The non-profit organization announced that half of the money would be contributed to animal welfare causes. The other half was to be spent on various meta-charities.

Last month, Jacobson’s sponsor Natural Stacks released a trailer for the 10 for 10 documentary, which follows the player’s run for the WSOP title. The feature will be officially presented in a few weeks at the beginning of this year’s WSOP.
