The Global Poker Index updated its ranking on Wednesday as usual. However, no movement was seen in top 5 of the leaderboard. In other words, Scott Seiver topped it for a fourth consecutive week with a total of 3,970.10 points. Ole Schemion ranked 2nd with 3,859.58 points and Dan Smith ranked 3rd with 3,828.71 points.
Davidi “Kitbul” Kitai with 3,745.14 points and Byron Kaverman with 3,670.28 points are the other two players to be part of this week’s top 5 of the prestigious ranking.
However, popular poker pro Phil Hellmuth dropped out of top 300 of the GPI leaderboard for the first time in almost a year. This could mainly be attributed to the fact that the player has not scored any considerable cash since November. Hellmuth has never topped the leaderboard but he ranked 4th at some point. After this week’s update, he is 380th with 1,439.76 points.
There is hardly a poker fan who has not heard of the Poker Brat as Hellmuth is often referred to due to his temperamental personality. The player is a proud holder of an impressive number of WSOP bracelets. To be more precise, he has won a total of 13 of those over the years. In 1989, Hellmuth, who was only 24 back then, became the youngest player to ever win a WSOP Main Event. He was awarded $755,000 for his achievement.
Up to date, the player has taken part in 52 WSOP final tables and has cashed in 108 different WSOP events. Although he has no WPT titles for now, Hellmuth has taken part in as many as 4 final tables and has cashed in 13 WPT events.
His live tournament winnings currently amount to $18,287,095, with his biggest live cash scored back in 2012, when he finished 4th in The BIG ONE for ONE DROP for $2,645,333. Hellmuth ranks 5th in the United States money list and 7th in the all time money list, with players like Daniel Colman, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, etc. being the only to stand higher than him.
Hellmuth’s list of career achievements is endless, but his 1st places in 37th WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for $631,863, the 38th WSOP $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em for $637,254, the 42nd WSOP $50,000 The Poker Players Championship 8 Game for $1,063,034, the 2012 WSOP Cannes €10,000 + 450 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for €1,022,376 ($1,333,841) are among the most notable ones.
