Robert Mizrachi Wins 2015 WSOP $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Event

The $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better or Event #3 in this year’s schedule of the WSOP was completed last night. Las Vegas-based poker pro Robert Mizrachi topped the field of 918 entries to win the amount of $251,022 and his third-ever WSOP bracelet.

The player is member of one of the most popular and successful families in the history of poker, together with his brother Michael “the Grinder” Mizrachi, who, too, is a proud holder of three WSOP bracelets.

As already mentioned, Event #3 attracted a total of 918 players who created a prize pool of $1,239,300. Of those, only the top 117 finishers were to be paid with the payouts starting from $2,354.

It took four days before the champion was determined. Mizrachi had to face Jacob Dahl in a tough heads-up play. At its beginning, Dahl was the chip leader with a 2:1 advantage over his prominent opponent. Mizrachi took the lead at some point and it took him about an hour and a half to defeat Dahl.

On what turned out to be the last hand in play, Mizrachi had [As][6h][5h][5d] against his opponent’s [Qh][8h][6c][3s]. The board ran out [10c][7c][2c][10d][3d]. That meant [Ax][2x][3x][5x][7x]

low for Mizrachi and he won the high with pocket fives.

Dahl had to content himself with a $155,333 portion of the prize pool for his runner-up finish. As for the champion, he was awarded his third WSOP bracelet and the amount of $251,022.

Mizrachi won his first WSOP bracelet event back in 2007. In fact, he was the first member of his family to be awarded the prestigious piece of jewelry. Bracelet number two came in 2014, when the player won the first-ever “Dealer’s Choice” tournament. After last night’s victory, both he and his brother have three bracelets each.

Up to now, Mizrachi has a total of $5,437,135 in live tournament earnings. Of those, $2,332,970 have been cashed at various WSOP events. The player has made it to the money at as many as 35 WSOP events and has 11 WSOP final table appearances.

Poker veteran Don Zewin finished 3rd in this year’s Event #3 for $97,185. Ryan Himes took 4th place, with his payout totaling $70,540. Dominick Cuzzi, who had his debut WSOP final table appearance, finished 5th. He received $52,075 of the entire prize pool.

Jim Juvancic was eliminated in 6th place for $39,037. Nguyen “Wayne” Tran finished 7th to add $29,693 to his poker bankroll. Bruce Levitt took 8th place to receive $22,889 of the prize pool. Thomas Taylor was the first to leave the nine-handed final table. His 9th place secured him with the amount of $17,883.
