The executive also pointed out that they are confident that the Spanish customers will enjoy their content, as the company has always been striving to provide players with excellent experience.
The announcement about a selection of NetEnt’s product offering going live in Spain came after yesterday the company was granted two gaming licenses by the country’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling – a general one for the provision of online games and a singular one for slot games. The gaming supplier has gone through an extensive application process so as for the Spanish gambling regulator to make sure that all the necessary conditions and requirements have been met.
Per Eriksson, President and Chief Executive Officer of NetEnt, commented that this is an important step for the company, as it strives for a constant growth and expansion on various regulated markets. Mr. Eriksson also pointed out that Spain is a “promising” online market and will certainly offer a number of opportunities for NetEnt.
Since the beginning of this calendar year, the Swedish company has taken several important steps towards introducing and expanding its operations on different regulated markets. Back in March, NetEnt announced that it had entered a strategic partnership with Spanish gambling operator Codere.
Furthermore, the Swedish gaming supplier was also granted operating and software licenses by the UK Gambling Commission in April. As previously reported, the UK introduced certain changes in its gambling regulations in back in 2014, due to which NetEnt had to provide its services under a temporary license.
In addition to this, it inked an agreement with Danske Spil, a government-owned Danish provider of gaming services, also known to be member of the World Lottery Association. This partnership allowed NetEnt to expand its business on the global lottery market.
The company also announced a record 37% increase in its first-quarter revenue compared to the figures posted for the same period in 2014. NetEnt generated a total of SEK258.3 million for the three months ended March 31, 2015.
